Western Medical Herbalists are trained in orthodox diagnostic skills but take a more holistic approach to healthcare which means identifying the underlying cause of an illness and treating the whole person and not just the symptoms.
During the first consultation, lasting approximately 60 minutes, a full medical history will be taken and a physical examination may be done if appropriate. A herbal prescription, usually in the form of tinctures, teas or creams will be tailored to the patient's individual needs and made up by me after each appointment. Follow-up appointments will take place after 2-4 weeks depending on the condition and these last approximately 30 minutes. All herbs used are from reputable sources and where possible organically grown or wild crafted.
What can be treated
Stress, mild to moderate depression, anxiety, arthritic conditions, digestive problems, eczema and other skin conditions, asthma, high blood pressure and other cardiovascular complaints, gynaecological problems, menopause, PMS, respiratory conditions, thyroid problems. Chronic illnesses tend to respond well to herbal medicine. On top of this, herbal medicine is effective in treating minor ailments such as the common cold and coughs, conjuncitivitis, cradle cap, nappy rash and others.
Herbal Medicine is suitable for all ages and if you are already on other medication this will be taken into consideration to ensure a safe treatment and to avoid any drug interactions.
